Solidarity DIY kit (craftivism for kids 7yrs+)
Craftivism for kids! A fun and thoughtful activity for future Change-Makers aged 7+ to make in partnership with an adult care-giver.
The Solidarity Bunting project was first introduced as a workshop at “Also Festival” in 2015, and was enjoyed by 50 children (7 years old up), who all fell silent as they worked on their stitching and writing – much to the amazement of their parents.
Why choose the word Solidarity?
In today’s world we believe the word ‘solidarity’ is important to reflect on and to activate within our lives.
Solidarity means – unity or agreement of feeling or action, especially among individuals with a common interest; mutual support within a group.
The mindful stitching creates the space and focus to think about what the word solidarity means, and how you can stand in solidarity with others through the daily choices you make.
Suitable for children 7+. Adult supervision needed.
Each kit contains:
Upcycled cotton triangles in various colours and patterns
Embroidery thread
Needle
Detailed instructions
Crafter-thought questions to reflect on and discuss whilst stitching
Tips to be an effective craftivist
Craftivist Collective label
Sales of these kits help to sustain and grow the Craftivist Collective’s global activities to engage people in Craftivism and support people to be the change they wish to see in the world.
All of the materials and printing are carefully sourced by Sarah from local and sustainable small business and then assembled in her flat in London, UK. Use with courage and care.
