‘Don’t Blow It’ Hanky

14 Apr ‘Don’t Blow It’ Hanky

Sneak a message under the nose of someone who could seriously influence positive change and help them to do so. Instead of being an aggressive activist, be a critical friend. It’s not only a loving thing to do, it can be more effective.

Your local politician probably gets dozens, if not hundreds of letters and emails urging them to consider all sorts of important issues. But how often do they get given a hand-stitched hanky acknowledging that their job is difficult and encouraging them to not ‘blow it’ but use their power to support create long lasting positive change? Probably not very often!

You could also stitch a hanky for a friend, family member or even a stranger who is in a position of power who you are worried might not be fulfilling the potential with the power and influence they have and you could encourage them to be the change they want to see in the world. Our kits have message suggestions for MPs, Teachers, Religious Leaders and even Bankers. Our kits also include questions to reflect on whilst stitching over your message to encourage you to think critically and encourage some ‘crafterthought’s to come out of this craftivism action.

We hope that they keep their handmade hanky to help motivate them to show their love for our global neighbours and the environment, and to act to help rather than harm them.

You might not think that this is project is going to have any impact but we asked Tristan Humphreys who is a Political Campaigner for Oxfam and he said about our project:

“Get your political campaigning right and you can be on the fast track to change. Its for this reason I’m delighted online pharmacy in ny that ‘Don’t Blow it’ campaign is encouraging people to take a positive and creative approach to lobbying their local MPs. Not only does it offer an exciting and enjoyable way to get involved in political campaigning but it also provides an effective and sustainable model for engaging with politicians in the future.”
Plus watch this TEDx talk below to see how 14 bespoke handkerchiefs given to board members of a large UK Retail company led to 50,000 of their employees have their pay increased above the minimum wage and to the current UK Living Wage calculations. Use your hanky as a catalyst to build a relationship with people in positions of power you disagree with.

Made ethically in the UK, each kit comes with 2 free stickers through the post.

    Hello Sarah,
I read your story in the War Cry I bought in Ayr High Street this morning and feel motivated to try to do something- anything- to help improve the state of our town.
I like the sound of “Don’t blow it” but as I’m old and my fingers are stiff and I’ve never been good at sewing- though I find it very soothing when I do try= I’m writing to ask you if the sewing is difficult?
I think your ida is brilliant and I wish you all the best.
    Love, Irma x

Dear Irma, I learnt to sew from YouTube videos online and basic sewing books so if I can do it, you can too I promise. If you choose the ‘Don’t Blow It’ Kit I recommend you also buy a cheap wooden embroidery hoop elsewhere to help you with your stitching if you get stiff hands. They are only a few pounds. I hope that helps and good luck!:) x

    Hi Irma

I’m thinking about setting up a Craftivism group in Ayr. Would you be interested? We could do some work on improving the town centre.

Also, love Bonfantis! (Guessing you’re from that family!)
