Seems like more and more people and organisations know who we are which is great (thanks to you all for joining us in crafty activism and spreading the word!). Recently TOMS Shoes got in touch and asked us to be part of their Christmas GIVE pop up shop which is Friday 14th December to Sunday 16th. We are doing a Craftivist Jigsaw workshop 11am- 3:30pm on the Friday encouraging people to come on the hour each hour to stitch with us in this brilliant shop just off Brick Lane in E1, London. From 4:30pm there will be a band playing (Damon Valentine) and people can hang out on the comfy seats or in their little library stitching listening to music.
We love what TOMS do to engage people in global issues- when you buy one pair of their ethical shoes another goes directly to someone who needs them in the global south. I love that they are now doing eyewear where it’s even better- when you buy a pair of their sun/glasses they give sight to a person who needs it! A-mazin! 🙂 and a great talking point.
The workshop is free so please encourage people to come and hang out with me (Sarah C), have a chilled out Friday stitching, reflecting on how we can all be our best selves (my new catchphrase!) and the best global citizens we can be. If you can’t come on Friday to the workshop (I know it’s a working day:s) then why not join our #imapiece workshop at Bust Craftacular 3pm-4pm on Sunday 16th December in York Hall, Bethnal Green, London, join another event across the UK or set up your own Stitch-In.
