07 Dec Guestspot at Oxfam’s Creative Campaigning workshop – December 2009

On the evening of Wednesday 16th December 2009 the Craftivist Collective were invited by Oxfam to be part of a creative campaigns workshop with some of their active campaigners around London.

We gave everyone a christmas craftivism kit to start making in that session and finish off at home. We were also asked to explain what our group does and what craftivism means.

Also invited were the amazing Shoreditch Sisters who are a young Womens Institute group who have just started getting into craftivism in their own unique way. The other guest spot was for a improvisation drama guy who taught us how to act out scenes linked to injustices.

It was a lovely evening that included mulled wine (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), chocolate logs and cheese with crackers. All the Oxfam campaigners were really keen to know what we are doing and how they can get involved which was lovely 🙂

Here are some photos of the craftivism kits we gave them. They were asked to make their own yellow felt star keyring that had ‘be a star’ on the front. They also were given rubbish to recycle to make into tags saying how a person can be a star this christmas by doing things that make people aware of injustices in the world and try to improve our world. there were asked to give the gift to a friend or leave it in a public place for a passer by to find and keep… And here are some photos of the fun we had.
