“Our countdown to Christmas craftavaganza is on its way! A one stop event that will get you making gifts, loving the environment and even sorting out that holiday frock!Guest DJ’s spin the tunes while the craft guerrilla gals get the yarn spinning in a whole host of seasonal craft packs ready for you to make or gift to a special craft loving friend! Mrs.Bears will be on hand with her trusted needle and thread helping you jazz up your swaps. Her cloths swap events are a great chance to get rid of your unwanted* clothing and swishing them for some “new” apparel. The Craftivist collective will also be with us offering you the chance to do something for the good of humanity in their “Climate for Change” mini workshop!” See website for more details: www.craftivist-collective.com
The Craftivist Collective project was making clocks out of books on the theme of climate change. It was to link in with the ‘countdown to copenhagen’ UN Conference where climate change needs to be a priorty for countries to discuss. We altered the books to make people think about climate change. The final products are going to be hung in libraries, cafes and public spaces to make people think about climate change, the effect it is having right now on the poorest people in the world and that actvism can be fun and unthreatening.
It was a lovely event and we made some cool books with some new craftivists and members of the public. See more photos here.
