‘Gentle Protest’ – My first solo show at HV Galleri, Stockholm, Sweden

Gentle Protest, Sarah Corbett solo craftivism exhibition. Join me in Stockholm for the exhibition, 'Craftivist Clinic', workshops & more! :)

15 Jul ‘Gentle Protest’ – My first solo show at HV Galleri, Stockholm, Sweden

I’m excited (and nervous!) to announce I have my first ever solo exhibition show this summer in Sweden at HV Galleri in the centre of Stockholm. I would love you to be part of it:

13 August19 September 2015. Handarbetets Friends Gallery.

Sarah Corbett “Gentle Protest”

If we want our world to be more beautiful, kind & just, then our activism should be beautiful, kind & just.

I agreed to this incredible invitation to create new work for a solo exhibition with the aim to show that protests do not always have to be aggressive and also how important that our good intentions lead into well-crafted strategic campaigns that really can improve our world long term. I hope to show that handicrafts can be a powerful tool to address injustices through slow, careful, thoughtful and empathetic activism as a catalyst for long-term positive change in the world. This free exhibition explores how crafts can be a powerful and changeable instrument that can be added to the toolbox of activism. With interactive elements, I would love you to attend 🙂

I can’t believe it’s been 6 years since I founded the Craftivist Collective in London January 2009 and now I’m proud to say that it has grown into a global community and social enterprise that tools and services to individuals and organisations around the world to help conduct effective craftivism.  Working with charities, universities, art institutions and individuals around the world for the last few years, I’ve learnt so much and I hope this exhibition builds on the knowledge and experience I’ve gained over the last 6 years. The exhibition will be mostly new work. I hope you like it! See press release on the HV Galleri website here (scroll down to read in English)

As well as having some items of the exhibition for sale, a shop area of other craftivism tools and products you can buy I will also be at the gallery as a resident ‘Craftivist Doctor’ in a designated room that will be a:

wellmaking clinic+

Being the change you wish to see in the world is something we have to do for individual & societal wellbeingThis clinic is for anyone who wants to make our world a happier & healthier place for all. My hope is it helps us to see if you are realising our potential to be part of the solutions to our world’s problems.

Feeling like a burnt out activist?

Overwhelmed & don’t know where to start?

Lost hope that we can change structures of injustice?

Nervous of trying?

Doubting your effectiveness as a change-maker?

Sounds like you need a check-up:

Make an appointment with me for a one to one 30min session in person or via Skype for advice on how to get involved in contributing to a happier and healthier world. I have over 7 years experience as a professional campaigner, founded the Craftivist Collective  & have been an activist since the age of 3 so I hope you feel you will be in good hands (check out my CV on LinkedIn here if you like). After the consultation, you will receive a unique letterpress printed prescription card with recommendations on such as what films to watch to inspire you, comic books to read to learn more about campaigning, activities to do and more. We will both then sign the prescription card, stamp it and you can keep it tohelp you on your journey as a good craftivist and global citizen.

    Hallo and Dear you,

I was very inpired at the workshop. This was a lifechanging for me. (I do love to listen to the English language)
Me and local knitters in Sweden have a movement KnittingPeace / Sticka för fred. We are strongly engaged to the spanish Madejas contra la violencia sexista it is about Skeins against gender violence.

Among knitting activities in public our main interest is to make white Peacedoves flying all over the world.
The freedom to speak in public slowly and really came to me from you!
