Books:
The Subversive Stitch: Embroidery and the Making of the Feminine (2nd Edition 2010) by Rozsika Parker. This a seen as a classic re-evaluation of the reciprocal relationship between women and embroidery and has brought stitchery out from the private world of female domesticity into the fine arts, created a major breakthrough in art history and criticism, and fostered the emergence of today’s dynamic and expanding crafts movements. This second edition has a new Introduction that brings the book up to date with exploration of the stitched art of Louise Bourgeois and Tracey Emin, as well as the work of new young female and male embroiderers and we happen to be in the new Introduction! 
The State of Craft, October 2011. Edited by Victoria Woodcock. Craft book from the team behind the hit Making Stuff (Black Dog Publishing 2006). It featuress over 60 clearly explained step-by-step ideas (including ours!) ranging from pom-pom necklaces and cross-stitched tote bags to jam-jar lamps and old-jumper pouffes. Interviews with craftsters provide further inspiration and a how-to section covers the basics of knitting, crochet and sewing. Craft’s second wave is upon us – it’s time to break away from the high street and into your toolbox!
